The bike was originally designed in 1999 as a versatile winter training bike, but has evolved over time into an all-in-one performer. Commute on it, train on it, race on it, or flip-flop the rear wheel and go from fixed riding to freewhweeling.

The Country Road Bob features a 7005 alloy frame with horizontal dropouts, along with a removable derailleur hanger and cable guides that facilitate the use of both front and rear derailleurs. The frame--which comes in 50 to 62 cm sizes--also has the clearance for up to 700 x 45c tires, with cantilever mounts and a carbon cyclocross fork smoothing the overall performance. Add in a Ritchey stem and seat post, Biomax bars, and a Velo dual-density saddle and you have a comfortable, responsive bike that's content from Boulder to Beijing.
